One Square Mile of Hope is a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest canoe and kayak raft benefiting Susan G. Koman for the Cure (the largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find a cure for breast cancer). The event will take place September 13, 2008 on Fourth Lake, Inlet, NY. In short, they need more than 776 kayaks and canoes (each with at least one person in it) out on the lake and the boats must be held together in a raft by the hands of the people in the boats. The whole "raft" must free float on the lake for at least 30 seconds to break the record. Money raised by the $20 donation per boat will go to to the Susan G. Koman for the Cure organization for breast cancer support and research. For more information go to OneSquareMileofHope.com
