Message-ID: <4E5BA452020000E50003984E@gwsmtp.dec.state.ny.us> For those of you with an interest in plants or want to learn how to identify different types of NY plants, one of my BOW instructors told me about an organization that offers plant workshops and botany field trips around NY. The name of the organization is New York Flora Association. Check out their web site at www.nyflora.org Membership is only $20 a year and their members range from complete novices to professional botanists. There are two types of trips listed on the website-- workshops and field trips. The workshops are usually geared towards more serious plant enthusiasts, and are focused on a specific group of plants (asters, grasses, etc.). But the field trips are really just outings where a group of people get together, hike around, and identify plants in botanically interesting places in New York-- probably a better choice for a real beginner.
