Center naturalists will lead participants on a leisurely walk in search of late blooming spring wildflowers and early summer flowers. We will learn some basic flower identification skills using flower identification guides and hand lenses. This program is open to the public free of charge. At 10 AM, Center naturalists will lead a walk outdoors in search of common (harmless) snakes. We will visit typical snake habitat to try to observe snake behavior. At 2 PM, Center naturalists will discuss indoors the natural history of snakes commonly found in the Capital District area. Some captive live native snake species will be available for participants to view up close and learn how to identify. The three venomous species native to New York State also will be on display in glass-fronted, locked boxes. These programs are open to the public free of charge.
