The Habitat Plan is available in document repositories and on the DEC's website (http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/61073.html ( http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/37558.html )). Attached to this message is a fact sheet that describes the Habitat Plan, how to comment, and a public information meeting on January 14, 2010 at the New York State Fairgrounds Art and Home Center. The public information meeting includes an open house (an informal opportunity to talk with project team members) that will begin at 5:00 P.M., followed by an information meeting beginning at 6:00 P.M. At the meeting NYSDEC, NYS Department of Health, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Honeywell will discuss and answer questions about the draft Onondaga Lake Habitat Plan for restoring habitats in and around Onondaga Lake and the draft Sediment Consolidation Area (SCA) design. The meeting will also include several interactive small group discussions on Habitat and SCA topics. NYSDEC, NYS Department of Health, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Honeywell are committed to working with community leaders, interested stakeholders and citizens to incorporate, as appropriate, input, recommendations, comments and perspectives into the technical designs for the lake bottom cleanup. Anyone with an interest in Onondaga Lake is encouraged to attend the January 14 information meeting.
