While contaminants of concern were detected in the sediment and surface water in Ley Creek, the data demonstrate that the current impacts to Ley Creek are not attributable to the site. Rather, sampling has shown that upstream sources, not associated with this site, are impacting the creek. As described in the attached, DEC invites you to a public meting to discuss the proposed remedy for the Crouse-Hinds Landfills State Superfund Site. Public comments are being accepted through March 7, 2011. The meeting will be held: Thursday, February 17, 2011 7:00 p.m. Brady Faith Center 404 South Avenue Syracuse, NY Onondaga County representatives will present an update to the July 15, 2010 Public Meeting, current construction schedule, potential impacts to residents, and address your questions or concerns. The CSO 044 Conveyance Project consists of approximately 500 lineal feet of large diameter conveyance pipeline along West Castle Street between the intersection of South Avenue and Dearborne Place. The CSO 045 Sewer Separation Project includes installation of sanitary and storm sewers along Hudson Street, Crescent Avenue and Rich Street. During the course of the project, traffic patterns, driveway access, parking, sidewalk use, public safety, and Centro and Syracuse City School District bus routes in the project area will be impacted at various times. The County will make every effort to accommodate the needs of the residents affected by this work. In addition, the County will issue notices approximately every two weeks during the construction period to keep you informed of construction progress and areas impacted by the project.
