Pre-Registration deadline is October 9, 2008. *Thinking Like A Mountain* will highlight the wildlife and natural history of the Adirondacks, as well as, many topics of interest to educators across the state. Keynote speaker, David Sobel, is author of Beyond Ecophobia: Reclaiming the Heart in Nature Education and has brought his ideas on place-based education to classrooms throughout the country. Featured speakers include Dr. Ken Kamler, a doctor and climber on many Everest expeditions and Carl Heilman II, an Adirondack nature photographer and author/photographer of Adirondacks: Views of an American Wilderness. The Conference welcomes classroom teachers, nature center staff, scout leaders, college faculty, or anyone interested in sharing the wonders of the natural world with others to attend. Workshop strands include natural history, outdoor recreation, diversity, classroom outdoor education, sustainable living, administration, do it outdoors, and leave no child inside. There will be entertainment by JAMCRACKERS, a local trio, Peggy Lynn, Dan Berggren, and Dan Duggan, who offer unique arrangements and striking harmonies.
