Dee will bring several of her unreleasable wild reptiles and share some fascinating stories about them. Autumn leaves are beautiful as they change color and then drift to the ground. We?ll collect some leaves and learn about the important work they do for the tree in summer, why they change color and fall at this time of year, and how nature recycles them. The exception to this is education center property such as Rogers Center. The education center property consists of 600 acres, on four separate parcels. The no hunting rule applies to each of these separate properties: Cush Hill, Adams Farm, Boise Farm and Visitor Center. The no hunting law was set by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at state level and exists for the safety of users of the trail systems on the parcels. Forest Rangers deployed locally are on the alert for illegal activities such as hunting throughout the year. Saturday October 31 11:00 AM Creepy Crawlies Spiders, bats, snakes*many people dislike or are scared of these animals. Saturdays October 10, 17, 24 9:00 AM to noon U-Pick Sunflowers at Rogers Center U-pick sunflowers will be available for harvest again this fall. Tell your bird-feeding friends about this great, fun way to provide for the birds. On Saturday mornings in October (10, 17 and 24 from 9:00 AM to noon), there will be a Friends of Rogers member on hand to help you gather sunflowers to feed the birds. Prices are only $2.00 per bag of sunflower heads, $3.00 for a bundle of 8 sunflower stalks or $.50 per stalk. We have clippers for you to use and instructions on how to hang heads up to ensure that they dry out properly. Special Programs! Come explore the Center grounds as we witness seasonal changes. Take a walk with Rogers Center staff and learn more about the wonders of the natural world. Walks occur most Saturdays at 1:30 PM. Please call for more information. Families and individuals welcome.
