Message-ID: <4C0E25BF.26A6.0088.3@gw.dec.state.ny.us> FAMILY FISHING DAY AT ROGERS CENTER Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne invites you to a family fishing day on Saturday, June 26 from 10:00 AM to noon. Bring a child to learn the basics of fishing and fish identification. Kids will get the chance to fish the pond with help from members of the Chenango Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Rogers Center staff will also have samples of aquatic insects found in the pond on display for visitors to view. An hour or two spent fishing is a great way to share nature with a child and help him or her connect to the great outdoors. Use Rogers Center*s equipment or bring your own. Catch and release only. All ages welcome. Free. Rogers Environmental Education Center is a designated New York State Watchable Wildlife site, where wildlife viewing opportunities abound. Message-ID: <4C17A541.26A6.0088.3@gw.dec.state.ny.us> Roger*s Summer Children*s Series The summer children*s series will focus on nature nooks*places where animals find shelter. Kids will have the opportunity to make a different nook each week, depending upon the featured animal. It*s a great chance to get outside and be creative. For children ages four through 10. Supplies limited; registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please call Rogers Center at 607-674-4017 ext. 623 Friday BIRD BUNGALOWS July 2 Nesting season is a time when birds are vulnerable to many things. Build a nest box for a 10:30 AM cavity-nesting bird like a bluebird or tree swallow, and look for these birds at Rogers to noon Center. Bring a hammer if you have one. Supplies limited; registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Register by Monday, June 28. Friday BAT CAVES July 9 Bats do the important job of eating pesky insects at night. Learn more about bats, and 10:30 AM give them a place to sleep during the day by building a roost box for them. Bring a to noon hammer if you have one. Supplies limited; registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Register by Monday, July 5. Friday TOAD VILLAS July 16 Learn about toads, and make a shelter out of cement and sand for them. You can keep 10:30 AM slugs and bugs out of the garden by encouraging toads to live there. Supplies limited; to noon registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.Register by Monday, July 12. Friday CHIPMUNK CHAMBERS July 23 Many small woodland creatures hide under rocks and woodpiles. By collecting sticks, 10:30 AM leaves, bark and other things on the ground, you can create a perfect shelter for a small to noon animal.Register by Monday, July 19. Friday KID HUTS July 30 Even humans need places to huddle up and call their own. We*ll create kid-sized shelters 10:30 AM using branches and leaves in the forest.
