Spring is a still a couple weeks away (March 20) and the staff at Stony Kill have already seen some early signs of the coming season! Red-winged blackbirds have arrived, goldfinches are showing more of their golden-yellow color as each week goes by, and the odor of skunk is in the air! We?ve seen steady participation in the after school program on Thursdays and encourage you to take advantage of our FREE programs. If you?re looking for something to do on the weekends, consider joining us for an inspiring trail walk. Check out our full calendar of events at http://www.dec.ny.gov/education/1833.html for up-to-date and ?paperless? program announcements and nature sightings. Encourage your friends and family to join Stony Kill?s list-serve so they, too, can have up to the minute information. Nature Discovery Encourages Kids to Get Outside After School Due to the popularity of this program we decided to extend it through June 25. Come discover nature at the weekly after-school program for children 5-12 years old and their caregivers! The Nature Discovery Series is offered from 4 PM to 5 PM every Thursday through June 25. This program offers stimulating outdoor experiences in Stony Kill's woods and fields for children and their caregivers, including animal tracking, scavenger hunts, and environmental games. For more information about this program and to register, please call 845-831-8780, ext. 300. Saturday Morning Guided Nature Walks at Stony Kill Stony Kill Farm offers guided nature walks every Saturday at 10:00 AM through June 27. Venturing outside brings personal rewards as we discover sights and sounds during the spring awakening. Birds chirping, the brush of snow on the landscape, signs of plants pushing their way out of the soil and the comings and goings of animals that leave their tracks and traces behind can all contribute to an exciting morning in the woods. Join a Stony Kill naturalist as we explore the various trails and habitats. For more information, please call 845-831-8780 ext. 300. Hope to see you soon!
